The Right Choices in Business

When you’re just starting out, especially in your business, regardless of whether it’s in photography or not, most people tend to ask everyone they talk to for advice. You’re just getting started, you’re a little insecure and most important of all you want desperately to make the right decisions.

Even well established photographers tend to do the same thing when making a major change in some aspect of their business, technique or skill set. They’re looking for assurances that they’ve made the right decision.

Remember, being a successful photographer is also about heart! You have to shoot from the heart to create images that tug at people’s heart strings. You have to have heart to enjoy what you’re doing and believe in the choices you’ve made.

It’s fine to ask for advice, but in the end you have to own your own decisions. But, here’s the best thing about owning your own decisions – nothing is forever! If you make a mistake, learn from the process and back up and start off in another direction.

There’s a great quote from motivational author, Jack Canfield:

“As you begin to take action toward the fulfillment of your goals and dreams, you must realize that not every action will be perfect. Not every action will produce the desired result. Not every action will work. Making mistakes, getting it almost right, and experimenting to see what happens are all part of the process of eventually getting it right.”
